Regener8 Cymru

A promotional film for the Healthy Relationships programme for 14-25s

Regener8 Cymru

Regener8 Cymru  is a Community Interest Company, based at the Educ8 training centre, designed to support Welsh valley communities by providing training, personal development, volunteering and work experience to disadvantaged, disengaged and often hard to reach people.

The Healthy Relationships programme delivers awareness sessions to young people aged 14-25 on respectful relationships, domestic abuse, gender stereoptyping, sexting, pornography, sexual consent, sexual exploitation, and perception.

Luminous Media were professional, reliable and punctual and we were very pleased with their work.

The problem

Regener8 Cymru approached us for help with a mid-way evaluation report for their healthy relationships programme. The programme has received funding from Caerfilli Cwm a Mynydd – Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Rural Development Programme.

Our solution

Rather than producing a written report we suggested making a promotional film to capture the programme in action and suggested that the film be shown at an event run by Regener8 Cymru at the Senedd (National Assembly for Wales) in Cardiff. This would give a more dynamic representation of the benefits of the programme and at the same time raise awareness of its existence with Assembly Members, funders, teachers, and other stakeholders.

What we did

We filmed on location at two of the schools where the programme has been successfully run. The structure of the video was based around the programme facilitators talking about what the programme entails and why it is needed. We followed this with interviews with learnings, finding out what topics they had covered, what they had learned, and how being better informed had changed their outlook. Interspersed between the interviews are clips of the two sessions of the programme being delivered to pupils at Heolddu Learning Pathways Centre and Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni. The video closes with interviews with members of the staff at the two schools, reflecting on the benefit of having external facilitators delivering the topics.
